Making easy maps on Krita

Krita is an open source drawing software similar to Photoshop, you can get it for free here. The font I used is Cloister Black and can be downloaded for free here.

The attached files are the following:

  • an example file (The Delian Tomb from Matthew Colville video)
  • patterns for the floor tiles
  • patterns of cross hatching
the tiles are 50 pixels in size.

To use the Krita file, open it on Krita and edit the Map layer, use the grid tool as a guide (View>Show Grid) and use the drawing tools to paint a white or colored base. To get some performance while drawing, you can disable the Effects group by clicking the Fx button.

You can use these files to make similar layer styles on Photoshop, Gimp or any drawing app that support styles or patterns.

By the way, maps made with this file are yours to stream, sell, print or use in any way.
